Sunset guide · 2 October 2026 It depends on the month. In early April and from about September, the Buža bars under the south walls see the sun set over open sea. From late April to late August the Lapad hills hide it from the Old Town, so go up Srđ by cable car, west to Lapad and Petka hill, or out by boat. (Other operators’ prices checked 2 October 2026.)
Sunset guide · 2 October 2026 Sunset in Dubrovnik ranges from about 16:14 in early December to 20:30 in the last week of June. In the boating season it is 19:13 on 1 April, peaks at 20:30 in late June, and falls to 18:06 by mid-October and 16:42 on 31 October, after the clocks go back.
Planning · 2 October 2026 For a big, steady ship with a bar and toilets, choose the Karaka (€45, 90 minutes, ages 16 and over) or Galleon Tirena, which takes children. For a shorter hour close to the water in a small group, choose a catamaran or a small speedboat. Once four or more of you are going, price a private boat too. (Other operators’ prices checked 2 October 2026.)
Practical · 2 October 2026 Most shared sunset cruises, including the Karaka, Galleon Tirena and Karuzo, board in the Old Town port under the city walls. Ferries, cruise ships and many private boats use Gruž, the main port. Our boats leave Marina Frapa on the Lapad side of Gruž bay, about 10 minutes from Pile Gate by taxi or a ride on bus 6. (Other operators’ prices checked 2 October 2026.)
Prices · 2 October 2026 On 2 October 2026, shared sunset cruises in Dubrovnik were listed at about €25 to €51 per person, and private boats at about €180 to €395 for 90 minutes to 2 hours. Planning · 2 October 2026 Book a private boat for an evening early in your stay, so a spare evening is left if the weather turns. Sunset guide · 2 October 2026 For a clear view of the sun going down, head west: Lapad bay and Babin Kuk face the Elaphiti islands, and Panorama on Mount Srđ looks over both. The Buža bars under the Old Town walls see the sun reach the sea only in autumn. Book summer sunset tables ahead; many places close by late October. (Other operators’ prices checked 2 October 2026.)
Practical · 2 October 2026 Wear light layers and flat, non-slip shoes, and bring a light windproof jacket in every month: the boat makes its own breeze of about 33 km/h and the ride back is after sunset. Add a jumper in April, May and October. Pack swimwear and a towel only if you plan to swim.
Sunset guide · 2 October 2026 In Dubrovnik the sun always sets over the sea to the west, but the exact point moves.
